Hailing from Montreal, Nikole Texidor was heavily influenced by her father - a prominent Jazz Percussionist who performed with Rahsaan Roland Kirk. The stories he told of being on the road and sharing the stage with Artists such as Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Led Zepplin, Frank Zappa and Jimi Hendrix were times where she wished she had a tape recorder.

NikTex joined forces in 2009 after Texidor received a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts.
In 2010, they released “The Power of Yang”, creating their own distinctive form of neo-folk jazz augmented with electronica flourishes.
